My name is Tobias Dienlin, and I am a researcher in the field of Communication and Media Psychology.

In my research, I analyze how social media affect our privacy and mental health. I’m also very much interested in all questions related to open science.

I’m Assistant Professor for Interactive Communication at Department of Communication at University of Vienna.

I’m a psychologist by training and earned my diploma at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2012. Until 2020, I was post-doc and Ph.D. at Department of Media Psychology at University of Hohenheim. Sabine Trepte was the supervisor of my thesis The Psychology of Privacy, which you can read here.
